Dominican Republic Travel

The Dominican Republic is one of the largest islands in the Caribbean and a true paradise.  Its capital city, Santa Domingo was the first city founded in the Americas, making it the oldest permanent settlement in the Western Hemisphere.  Over the years, it has grown into the favorite destination for many travelers looking for tropical weather, beautiful beaches and incredible resorts to satisfy any appetite.  The Dominican people are some of the friendliest that you’ll ever meet.  They welcome travelers to their island and will make you feel at home.  The tourist dollar is their main source of income.

Punta Cana is the largest and most popular destination on the island.  It is located at the eastern most tip of the island and boasts white sand beaches unrivaled to any other in the Caribbean.  As it rarely rains during the day, it is the perfect destination known across Europe and North America.  Visitors here will find a large variety of all-inclusive resort properties.  From smaller boutique resorts like Zoetry Agua to the mega Barcelo Bavao complex; there is a resort to please everyone.

An hour and a half west of Punta Cana is La Romana located at the southeast end of the island.  The beach areas of Bayahibe and Dominicus became the first in the Caribbean to receive the designation that honors high standards for water quality.  The beaches here have calmer waters more suitable to water sports.  There are also many beautiful resorts to chose from as well. On the north coast of the island, also known as the Gold Coast because of the color of the sand, is where you will find Puerto Plata.  Here again, as everywhere around the island, you will find a beautiful scenic area with picturesque beaches.  What sets this area apart is the breathtaking mountain backdrop.

So you can now understand why the Dominican Republic is such a wonderful tropical vacation destination.
